The gentle guidance that was supposed to occur crumbled before the “force” driven by an unknown impulse. Before her sighs could dominate the room, an irresistible passion compressed the distance between the two to the absolute limit, tearing away the mask of the Madonna.

The Reality of Impulse that Shatters the Planned Script

In this latest work, Ao Ebisaki abandons the facade of the “graceful subject” seen in her previous roles, existing instead as a woman wavering between a certain bewilderment and an irrepressible pleasure. Particularly noteworthy is the moment around the 35-minute and 10-second mark: the process by which reason rapidly vanishes from her eyes, pushed by an unexpected and overwhelming force. This transcends the framework of performance, offering a glimpse of a perversely comforting surrender to an unforeseen “dominance of power.”

Standing in stark contrast to the “meticulous courtesy” she has shown in previous project-based works, her vulnerability in this film is remarkable. In particular, the intensity of the arch her body forms in response to her partner’s thrusts feels less like a display of physical force and more like an expression of spiritual fulfillment. The luster of her skin under the lighting, combined with the sound of her ragged, overlapping breaths, elevates the documentary quality of this production to the absolute limit.

The sight of her letting go of her own agency and being carried away by the torrent woven by her partner’s desire brings a certain catharsis to the audience. The composition—in which a planned “sexual training” is overturned by the raw, primal vitality of her partner—is fascinating. Within that ironic unfolding, the expression she reveals—one of being pushed to a point where she can no longer think—is an incredibly rare, singular moment unique to this production. It is a bold, ambitious work that meticulously records the deep-seated reactions elicited only when she is not merely accepting, but truly and forcefully moved by another.
