【Review】

In a room wrapped in midday silence, the “fraying” Hoshina displays is more vivid than in any previous work. The contrast between the clean texture of her shirt and the hidden elation beneath it is striking. When her true feelings leak out in a fleeting moment and are pointed out, the mixture of “resignation” and “ecstasy” in her eyes grips the viewer’s heart.

Most notable is the depiction of the denim, which speaks eloquently of her inner turmoil. The sight of the stiff fabric absorbing her overflowing emotions and gradually changing color portrays her “defeat” more beautifully than any words could. The weight of the discarded clothing and her exposed soul trembling in raw craving.

In the latter half, as she surrenders to a violent rhythm and melts her sense of self, her expression exists entirely outside the realm of reason. She destroys her previously refined image, sinking deeper and deeper into a vortex of pleasure. This “aesthetic of falling” is exactly what sublimates this work into a one-of-a-kind masterpiece.
